Nigel, disagree with you. A team goes down to ten just before half time. Nobody knows how they will line up in the second half. Chelsea went out to get back into the game and we let them. But once they equalised that was it. Only one winner.

Definitely Romford, Song dictates the pace of games when at his best.

I also think having a confident player like song in the team would stop us sitting back as well

Nige, if you read what Bilic said, he instructed the players to go out and be positive and take the game to them. Sometimes though, the mentality and confidence of players to go out and do that against 'bigger' teams isn't always there regardless of what instructions they are under.
He also said that, even though it's odd, them scoring done us a favour, as it made the players automatically go for it more.

He has already come out and said he never asked the team to do that....
He wants to go get a second goal!!

I'm going to be a relative naysayer here: I thought that Bilic could have been more positive when we were 1-0 up and playing against ten men. We were showing them too much respect, playing too defensively and that played a massive part in their getting an equaliser. Only after that did we assert ourselves again, but we could have been more proactive to begin with.
I know it's all part of the dynamics of a game, and there is a natural tendency to try to hold what you have, but we might have made things more difficult for ourselves in adopting that approach.
Nonetheless, another great win, obviously, so fair play!

Impressed with his tactics and starting line-ups. But more impressed with his reactions to game situations and the subs he uses....Plus, always positive subs.
Can't fault him at the moment.

The next game will be a test. We need to show we can dominate and open up the weaker teams.

“There are always lots to talk about after 90 minutes of football. I am very proud of my club and my team.
“It was brilliant to beat the champions, it’s a great feeling. There is nothing wrong in admitting that we are playing really good. We deserved to win.
"We want to continue to play well and if we defend as a unit and attack as a team we have a chance to win every game. We are very happy.
“Every win is important. It is about the home wins and when you do it against the champions."

Spot on. It was much more than an obvious straight swap.
Bilic is a fucking genius.

Loved the way Bilic controlled things this week in the run up to the game, we respect Chelsea but don't fear them. Giving Jose praise, it just kept everyone grounded.
But you can hear after the game from Carroll, saying he studies the opposition and then tell us how to beat them.
Long may it continue Super Slav

Hang on here
He did not switch strikers - he put another on and changed that behind them structurally
he is constantly adjusting, not a plan B but a plan E if needed and fucking fairplay after the one or at best two dimensional predecessors

Sorry Shim but it hardly needed a genius tactical adviser to suggest bringing on a fresh, hungry Carroll for a tiring Zarate. I found it odd that MOTD described this as a 'masterstroke'.

How can a manager, with no premier league experience and a completely new team be criticised for tactics during his first couple of games!?

Re: BILIC Tactically

If I'm being harsh Carroll should have been on before the equaliser which was starting to look inevitable early in the second half. But he made the change in time to fix the situation so gets full credit anyway?
